Fire destroys Hurley feedlot grain elevator

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP)--Firefighters from seven departments in southeast South Dakota responded to a blaze that destroyed a grain elevator at a cattle feedlot.

Hurley Second Assistant Fire Chief Brad Georgeson says the it started late Feb. 24 at the Maverick Feeders' elevator about 2 miles north of Hurley on Highway 19.

He says the elevator is a complete loss and it's not clear how the fire started.

Other departments that responded included Davis, Viborg, Chanchellor, Parker, Lennox and Marion.
