Bids end higher

Grain and soybean bids were higher for the day March 3, with the exception of wheat which was mixed, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Corn found support from good demand and the higher soybean market. Soybeans saw gains due to new contract highs in the soybean meal and the surging soybean oil market.

Wheat was 60 cents lower to 79 cents higher. Corn was mostly 8 to 17 cents higher. Sorghum was 36 to 45 cents higher. Soybeans were mostly 23 to 27 cents higher.

Grains inspected for export for week ending Feb. 28: Wheat totaled 16.3 million bushels, down 2.8 million bushels; corn 47.1 million bushels, down 2.2 million bushels; sorghum 4.6 million bushels, down 6.7 million bushels and soybeans 32.6 million bushels, up 7.7 million bushels compared to a week ago.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 966.3 million bushels up 310.4 million; corn 1272.6 million bushels up 183.7 million; sorghum 182.8 million bushels up 104.0 million and soybeans 723.1 million bushels down 46.4 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In the futures close, Kansas City May wheat was $11.70 3/4, up 10 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $11.21, down 9 cents; Minneapolis, $17.59 3/4, down 60 cents; Portland, $11.50 to $12.50; St. Louis, $9.53, up 17 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $5.47, up 11 to 8 cents; Minneapolis, $5.14 1/2, up 10 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $5.31 1/2 to $5.35, up 14 to 17 1/2 cents; Omaha, $5.32 to $5.42, up 10 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $14.63, up 23 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $14.94 1/2 to $15.01; central Illinois processors, $14.99 1/2 to $15.14 1/2, up 27 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices March 4, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $12.10 to $13.10, down 17 3/4 to 35 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $13.15 to $13.65, down 40 3/4 to 80 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $13.95 to $15.25, down 85 3/4 to 135 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $15.55 to $15.70, down 110 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $11.65 to $12, down 20 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $5.32 to $5.40, unchanged.
