2008 Governor's Forum on Colorado agriculture a successColorado About 300 people gathered on Feb. 28, to discuss the future of Colorado's agriculture industry at the Governor's Forum on Colorado Agriculture. "The Forum offers the opportunity to present future-oriented, cutting-edge topics that promote communication and understanding across the entire industry," said Commissioner of Agriculture John Stulp. This year's theme, "Advancing Colorado's Rural Development," included topics covering rural infrastructure, agritourism, carbon and nitrogen credit marketing opportunities and water research and legislation. The event kicked off on Feb. 27 with a pre-forum reception at Governor's Residence at Boettcher Mansion, Feb. 28, consisted of state and national leaders within the agriculture community: --Governor Bill Ritter Jr.; --Undersecretary Thomas C. Dorr, USDA, Rural Development; --Renny Fagan, State Director, U.S. Senator Ken Salazar; --Mark R. Drabenstott, Director, Center for Rural Competitiveness, Truman School of Public Affairs, University of Missouri. "This event helps to create a spirit of community within Colorado's agriculture industry by offering valuable information to increase Colorado's agriculture competitiveness on a local and global level," said Stulp. 3/10/08 Date: 3/5/08
