Texhoma livestock sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 826 head June 4, compared to 276 head last week and 380 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. Weigh-ups were average. The supply included 38% steers, 46% heifers with 14% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A large offering of pairs out of the drought area. A total of 388 cows and bulls sold with 32% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 373 lbs., 136.00; 7 head, 400 lbs., 130.00; 11 head, 528 lbs., 125.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 529 lbs., 120.50; 5 head, 555 lbs., 116.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 533 lbs., 115.00; 14 head, 646 lbs., 110.75.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 594 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 3, 7 head, 441 lbs., 95.50; 7 head, 494 lbs., 97.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 318 to 325 lbs., 110.00 to 119.00 (111.30); 7 head, 350 to 393 lbs., 118.00; 5 head, 400 lbs., 119.00; 15 head, 505 lbs., 108.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 421 lbs., 111.50; 12 head, 520 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 608 lbs., 103.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 6 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 55.50 to 56.25. Boners, 35 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 55.50 to 58.00; high dressing, 58.75 to 60.00; low dressing, 52.50 to 53.75. Lean, 73 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.25 to 59.75; low dressing, 50.50 to 52.25. Light, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 49.75 to 50.75; low dressing, 48.00 to 48.50; very low, 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 10 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 69.50 to 72.50; high dressing, 75.50 to 77.50; low dressing, 65.00 to 68.50; very high 81.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 to 7 years old, 1300 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average blacks 800.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 975 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 275-lb. calves, high quality 1100.00 to 1200.00; 3 to 4 years old, 1000 lbs., with 200- to 300-lb. calves, high blacks 1210.00 to 1260.00; 5 years old, 1175 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 275-lb. calves, high quality 1150.00 to 1200.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1175 to 1200 lbs., with 175- to 300-lb. calves, high quality 1075.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1025 to 1050 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average blacks 820.00 to 880.00 thin; 8 to 9 years old, 975 to 1075 lbs., with 125- to 200-lb. calves, average blacks 795.00 to 840.00 thin.
