Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,218 head June 3, compared to 600 head last week and 1,059 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends were not applicable on slaughter lambs due to light receipts last week. Slaughter ewes sold steady to weak, feeder lambs sold mostly $1 to $3 lower. Buyer attendance good with good to very good demand for new crop slaughter lambs, moderate for slaughter ewes and feeder lambs. The run offered the first significant number in recent weeks of new crop slaughter lambs. Feeder lamb offering was not as attractive as previous weeks and mostly clean up lambs. Many consignments bottom end off club lamb operations that have been short docked. Slaughter lambs comprised 46% of the sale, 29% feeder lambs and 20% slaughter ewes with the balance mostly bucks and yearlings. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 113 to 129 lbs., 113.50 to 116.50 (114.61); 136 to 145 lbs., 116.50 to 117.00 (116.74); 63 head, 154 lbs., 116.50. Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 26 head, 84 lbs., 119.00; 17 head, 100 to 102 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00 (118.22); 19 head, 111 to 120 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00 (110.60); 17 head, 134 lbs., 111.00; 8 head, 138 to 148 lbs., 107.50 to 109.50 (108.47) Buck lambs. Wooled, Good and Choice 1 to 2, 13 head, 68 lbs., 106.00; 74 to 77 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00 (109.38); 7 head, 89 lbs., 109.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 160 to 174 lbs., 25.00 to 34.50 (27.29). Good 2 to 4, 14 head, 188 to 199 lbs., 20.00 to 23.00 (21.10); 216 to 250 lbs., 21.00 to 26.00 (22.70). Utility 1 to 2, 129 to 157 lbs., 22.00; 168 to 190 lbs., 17.00 to 22.00 (19.35). Cull 1, 127 to 154 lbs., 10.50 to 13.00 (11.90); 8 head, 110 lbs., 14.00.
