OKC West livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,120 head June 4, compared to 5,807 head last week and 5,534 head last year, according to the USDA to Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower. Demand is still good for feeders despite slightly lower market but this due somewhat to quality. Several lighter muscled or lower grading cattle included and these sold with very little discount to the top grade. Calf market not well tested, few sales were steady. Wheat harvest just underway in the area. Weather hot and windy and this producing weigh-ups of average to full. The supply includes 90% over 600 pounds, 7% under 600 pounds, 5% cows and bulls. The total includes 30% heifers. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Packer demand was moderate to good. A total of 251 cows and bulls sold with 75% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 lbs., 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.50 to 112.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 102.75 to 109.00; 900 to 1000 lbs., 96.75 to 102.75; 1025 to 1035 lbs., 92.50 to 96.75. Lean, 35 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 49.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 8 head, 1300 to 1925 lbs., 72.50 to 74.50; high dressing, 76.00 to 77.00; low dressing, 66.00 to 69.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 8 years old, 1075 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, average quality 660.00 to 700.00; 10 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 8 months bred, average quality 580.00 to 630.00.
