Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 1,064 head May 29, compared to 803 head last reported sale and 207 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. No recent report was available due to no recent sales. Buyer attendance was good, with good demand. An assortment of slaughter lambs, slaughter ewes, and feeder lambs made for an active market. The supply consisted of 70% slaughter lambs, 9% slaughter sheep and 21% feeder lambs. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 514 head, 138 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00 (114.68). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 93 to 98 lbs., 119.75 to 120.00 (119.84); 45 head, 105 lbs., 117.50; 29 head, 114 lbs., 112.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 28 head, 172 lbs., 24.00. Good 2 to 4, 19 head, 209 lbs., 18.25. Utility 1 to 2, 9 head, 146 lbs., 19.00; 9 head, 172 lbs., 19.00. Cull 1, 11 head, 123 lbs., 7.50.
