Nebraska Beef Council announces essay constest winnersNebraska Nearly 900 entries were received in the 2008 Nebraska Beef Council Essay Contest. NBC teamed up with Runza Restaurants to provide this statewide contest for kids in grades 3 through 6. All essays had to meet contest rule criteria as well as begin and end with the following sentence: First line: "It was a warm spring day and I met some friends for a delicious hamburger lunch at Runza. After ordering, we..." Last line: "That was the best day ever." There were two age groups: 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade. Prizes were awarded to the top three place finishers in each age division, after being judged by a panel of four judges. Honorable Mention in each age group was also selected. First prize: Four tickets to a home Nebraska football game, one night hotel accommodations in Lincoln, a tour of the Memorial stadium which will include the Runza Sandwich wrapping station, and $200 in cash. Second prize: A Nebraska football, Nebraska football jersey/ sweatshirt and $100 in cash. Third prize: 15 free Runza Combo Meal certificates and $50 in cash.
