Georgia livestock market summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending May 30, totaled 8,943 head, compared to 10,730 head last week and 19,122 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher, feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher, heifers were steady to $3 higher, steer calves were steady to $2 higher, heifer calves were $1 to $3 higher, replacement cows were mostly steady. The offering included 8% steers over 600 pounds, 36% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 23% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 18% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
