Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Fort Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 911 head June 2, compared to 977 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

There was no trend as sales were not reported last week. The supply included 447 feeder calves, 287 feeder yearlings, 43 replacement cows, 116 slaughter cows, 17 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bull. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 57% steers and bulls with 43% heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 50.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 59.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 45.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 44.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 54.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 63.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 53.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 63.50 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.00 to 73.50.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 353 to 390 lbs., 118.00 to 132.00 (124.50); 400 to 447 lbs., 121.00 to 132.00 (125.86); 450 to 484 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00 (123.96); 505 to 540 lbs., 112.00 to 121.00 (116.83); 550 to 595 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00 (109.77); 600 to 638 lbs., 100.00 to 113.50 (105.57); 685 lbs., 101.00; 785 lbs., 103.50 (103.50); 905 to 923 lbs., 68.00 to 75.00 (73.62).
