Nebraska

A Farrowing Basics educational program, June 17 and 18 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, offers anyone working in conventional pork producing operations the basics in lactating sow and piglet care.

The beginner course also can serve as a refresher for people experienced in farrowing management. Sows and litters will be available for teaching and hands-on experience.

"This is a great opportunity for learning how to fine tune the reproductive aspect of your operation in an effort to improve economic survival," said Duane Reese, UNL Extension swine specialist.

The course begins with 10 a.m. registration June 17 at the Animal Science Complex on UNL's East Campus. The workshop concludes June 18 at 12:30 p.m.
