Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,436 head May 29, compared to 2,014 head last week and 1,475 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm. Slaughter cows were steady to weak. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200- to 650-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 20% of the offering, slaughter bulls 4%, replacement cows 19%, and feeders 57%. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers, with nearly 21% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, four packages 234 to 298 lbs., 152.00 to 162.00, lot 224 lbs., pre-conditioned 175.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 131.00 to 139.00, package 320 lbs., 147.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.50 to 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.50 to 112.00; package 812 lbs., 104.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 280 lbs., 134.00; two packages 362 to 372 lbs., 129.00; two packages 525 to 570 lbs., 105.50 to 113.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.50 to 105.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 106.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 225 lbs., pre-conditioned 132.50; package 355 lbs., 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.50 to 113.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, three packages 209 to 251 lbs., 130.50 to 163.00, lot 219 lbs., pre-conditioned 166.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 113.00 to 116.00, package 310 lbs., 121.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00; package 879 lbs., 90.00; lot 972 lbs., 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 250 lbs., 121.00; two packages 337 to 351 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 100.50; package 526 lbs., 104.00; package 605 lbs., 102.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 99.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 220 lbs., 103.00; lot 438 lbs., 99.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 54.50 to 59.00; high dressing, 60.00 to 61.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 56.50 to 59.00 60.00 to 61.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 60.25; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 53.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 2000 lbs., 74.50 to 81.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 660.00 to 785.00 per head; young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred, 775.00 to 935.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 800 to 1100 lbs., with 85- to 200-lb. calves, 825.00 to 1085.00 per pair; middle-aged to aged, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 750.00 to 835.00 per pair.
