FIELD DAY--Dow AgroSciences hosted a field day for its new grass and broadleaf herbicide for winter wheat, PowerFlex, May 15, at the Perkins Agronomy Research Station in Perkins, Okla. Growers and crop consultants from across the state toured field trials set up by Dr. Tom Peeper and his colleagues at Oklahoma State University's Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. There is a push in Oklahoma for cleaner wheat fields, and with higher wheat prices farmers are looking for new products to combat weeds, Dr. Peeper explained. "Elevators are coming down on dockage and with higher priced wheat farmers are looking for a good crop," he said. PowerFlex is particularly useful in combating rye grasses, which have been infiltrating wheat fields in north central Oklahoma, he explained. (Journal photo by Jennifer M.
