Wyobraska cattle salesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota feedlots for the week ending June 21, totaled 100 head, compared to 3,300 head last week and 1,860 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was inactive this past week with no recent price comparison available. Demand was moderate to light. Little interest noted for fall contracting of cattle. Good rains throughout the area and warmer weather indicate the availability of grass looks good. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 9% of the supply, heifers 91%, with 81% of the offerings over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 0 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium to large frame 1, 636 lbs., 120.00. Direct, Medium to large frame 1 FOB price, none.
