Simmental Juniors head to Texas for Classic

The Wichita Falls Multipurpose Event Center and the Howard Johnson Hotel in Wichita Falls, Texas will welcome the American Simmental Association's National Classic XXVIII on July 13 to 18.

American Junior Simmental Association's premier event, the Classic is "the epitome of what our junior program is all about" according to coordinator Nancy Tom, Campbellton, Texas. Junior members between 9 years and 21 years will compete in contests such as Sales Talk and Livestock Judging, as well as the Simmental Cattle Show and Showmanship. AJSA Board members will be elected at the National Classic and Merit Award winners are announced. The Classic is designed to provide competition and a learning experience to juniors across the nation.

The National Classic promises to be lively with a western "fiesta" theme, several provided meals and a "Cowboy Prom" to cap the schedule.

Regional Classics were held in Spencer,Iowa--North Central, June 17 to 21; Huntsville, Ala.--Eastern, June 25 to 28; Pueblo, Colo.--Western, June 13 to 15; and West Monroe, La.--South Central, June 11 to 14;

The American Simmental Association is headquartered in Bozeman, Mont., and maintains the breed registries for the Simmental and Simbrah breeds of cattle. ASA has an active adult and junior membership of nearly 8,000.
