Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,210 head, June 19, compared to 2,542 head, last week and 764 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 700 pounds on a light test were weak. Steers at 700 to 950 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Heifers at 700 to 800 pounds were steady, and 800 to 950 pounds showed a weak undertone. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Receipts included 68% 600 pounds and over, 6% 600 pounds and under, 26% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 68% steers and 32% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 44 head, 741 lbs., 114.85; 850 to 900 lbs., 108.85 to 109.35 (108.94); 900 to 950 lbs., 106.50 to 107.75 (107.09). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 791 lbs., 107.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 108.25 to 109.00 (108.70); 23 head, 875 lbs., 106.25. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 465 lbs., 117.50; 10 head, 576 lbs., 111.50; 27 head, 653 lbs., 108.50; 12 head, 703 lbs., 106.00; 13 head, 776 lbs., 104.00; 5 head, 818 lbs., 103.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 8 head, 616 lbs., 100.00. Large frame 1 to 2, 58 head, 958 lbs., 103.00. Fleshy, 7 head, 812 lbs., 97.00. Large frame 2, 10 head, 928 lbs., 97.00. Large frame 3, Holsteins, 6 head, 574 lbs., 60.00; 10 head, 770 lbs., 57.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 729 lbs., 105.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 101.50 to 103.50 (102.74). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 101.75 to 104.25 (103.02); 23 head, 715 lbs., 102.00; 14 head, 794 lbs., 100.75. Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 645 lbs., 96.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 99.50 to 100.00 (99.83); 57 head, 816 lbs., 98.25. Large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 793 lbs., 94.00. Baby calves: Per head, 11 head, 150.00 to 380.00 (272.73).

Feeder cows/heiferettes: 24 head, 65.00 to 85.00 (73.83).

Pairs: Per pair, Medium frame 1, middle aged, 14 pairs, 1051 to 1055 lbs., with 185- to 231-lb. calves, 950.00 to 1085.00 (1017.37). Medium frame 1 to 2, aged, short and solid, 10 pair, 1038 to 1039 lbs., with 186- to 197-lb. calves, 750.00 to 810.00 (774.01). Medium frame 2 to 3, aged, broken mouth, 11 pair, 1070 to 1085 lbs., with 146- to 210-lb. calves, 650.00 to 740.00 (691.42) Small frame 1, young, 3 pair, 750 lbs., with 141-lb. calves, 805.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 62.00 to 64.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 52.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 61.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 51.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 72.00 to 75.00 (73.67); low dressing, 62.00 to 68.25 (65.45).
