ISU professor named distinguished teacher by national associationIowa Iowa State University agricultural economics professor James Kliebenstein has been selected as a recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Teaching Award from the American Agricultural Economics Association. The association will formally present the award for 10 or More Years Undergraduate Teaching at its annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., in July. The Distinguished Teaching Award is one of the AAEA's most prestigious awards. Kliebenstein joined the ISU economics faculty in 1986. He has received several other teaching awards including the 2007 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences VEISHEA Faculty of the Year award and the USDA Regional Award for Excellence in College and University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences in 2006 from the National Association of State Universities and Land Grand Colleges. In 2006, he received the Publication of Enduring Quality Award from the AAEA. He teaches farm business management courses and advises undergraduate and graduate students. His research evaluates the costs and benefits of livestock production, agricultural production technologies and risk management strategies. Kliebenstein received his doctorate from the University of Illinois-Urbana and his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
