Dodge City livestock sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 3,080 head June 18, compared to 2,875 head last week and 2,731 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 600 pounds on a light offering was steady to $2 higher, 600 to 800 pounds not tested, 800 to 900 pounds was steady to firm, 900 to 1025 pounds was steady to $3 higher. Heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for a test, but had a steady to firm undertone, and those at 650 to 800 pounds were steady to firm. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was moderately active and demand moderate to good. Receipts included 85% over 600 pounds, 6% under 600 pounds and 9% slaughter cows and bulls with 257 head, early. The feeder supply included 59% steers and 41% heifers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 pair, 1355 lbs., young with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 1085.00; 4 pair, 1265 lbs., middle-aged, with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 1170.00; 15 pair, 1340 to 1506 lbs., middle-aged, with 200- to 400-lb. calves, 1230.00 to 1300.00 (1259.98); 4 pair 1250 lbs., aged with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 910.00; 27 pair, 1519 to 1548 lbs., aged, with 250- to 400-lbs., 1130.00 to 1150.00 (1142.68).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, few 59.00 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 57.00 to 60.00; high dressing, 61.00 to 62.50; low dressing, 52.50 to 54.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 52.50 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 61.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 68.00 to 72.00; high dressing, 73.50 to 79.50; low dressing, 59.00 to 67.50.
