Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,624 head June 19, compared to 1,722 head last week and 1,436 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly $2 to $3 lower, except few reputation packages were steady to weak. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 775-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 19% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 79%. The feeder supply included 42% steers and 58% heifers, with nearly 65% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 141.00 to 149.00, package 290 lbs., pre-conditioned 151.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 126.00 to 131.00, two packages 307 to 348 lbs., 141.00 to 149.00; three packages 406 to 416 lbs., 117.00 to 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.50 to 117.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 112.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 132.00 to 137.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.50 to 106.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 500 lbs., 100.00; package 691 lbs., 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 93.00 to 97.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 116.00 to 125.00; four packages 309 to 375 lbs., 105.50 to 118.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 105.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 98.60 to 100.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 102.50 to 103.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 101.50; package 778 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 94.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.00 to 55.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 56.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 55.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 59.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 54.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 53.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 56.50 to 60.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1500 lbs., 56.00 to 58.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 53.00 to 59.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1200 to 2000 lbs., 65.00 to 80.50; high dressing, 2100 to 2200 lbs., 77.00 to 83.25.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 775.00 to 800.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 875 to 1000 lbs., with 125- to 250-lb. calves, 810.00 to 950.00 per pair.
