Arkansas livestock sales summary

The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending June 19, showed estimated receipts of 9,315 head, compared to 10,247 head last week and 10,599 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to instances $1 lower. Feeders sold mostly $1 to $4 lower, instances were $5 to $6 lower. The supply included 4,985 stocker and feeder calves, 2,840 feeder yearlings, 525 replacement cows, 850 slaughter cows, and 115 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 46% yearling heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 48.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 58.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 49.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 62.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 49.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 45.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 58.75; low dressing, 37.00 to 45.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 35.00 to 43.00; low dressing, 27.00 to 35.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 60.00 to 69.00; high dressing, 69.50 to 77.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 60.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 850.00 to 950.00 per pair; 200- to 300-lb. calves, 1050.00 to 1150.00 per pair, few to 1335.00. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 5 to 10 years old, 750 to 950 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 700.00 to 800.00 per pair.
