Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,983 head June 11, compared to 2,250 head last week and 1,899 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 650 pounds were uneven with front-end kind steady to $5 lower, and plainer calves at $5 to $10 lower. Steers over 650 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, and heifers over 650 pounds were $8 to $10 lower. Holsteins under 600 pounds were steady compared to a light test last week, those at 600 to 800 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, and over 800 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Demand was moderate to light, supply was moderate. Corn futures closed limit up with most all contracts over trading over $7. Live cattle futures closed on the positive side, but feeder cattle future contracts retreated to the negative side. The feeder supply included 35% steers, 19% Holsteins, 42% heifers, 5% bulls, with 46% over 600 pounds. Large frame 1, 475 to 500 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 99.00 to 101.50; package 726 lbs., calves 100.00.
