Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,542 head June 12, compared to 2,401 head last week and 852 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 600 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Heifers at 600 to 850 pounds were $2 lower. Steers and heifers 300 to 600 pounds were weak to $2 lower in a very limited test. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. Receipts included 74% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 13% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1. 200 to 250 lbs., 148.00 to 156.00 (153.26); 7 head, 647 lbs., 113.00; 21 head, 670 lbs., 114.25; 5 head, 718 lbs., 113.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 108.85 to 111.50 (110.78); 800 to 850 lbs., 110.00 to 111.75 (111.30); 850 to 900 lbs., 107.50 to 109.75 (108.75); 50 head, 1024 lbs., 98.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 21 head, 484 lbs., 123.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 105.75 to 107.50 (106.41); 850 to 900 lbs., 105.00 to 105.35 (105.24). Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 724 lbs., 105.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 103.25 to 106.85 (106.07). Large frame 1 to 2, 750 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 100.50 (100.29); 64 head, 942 lbs., 100.00; 950 to 1000 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00 (100.92). Large frame 2, 850 to 900 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00 (95.40). Large frame 2 to 3, fleshy, 11 head, 931 lbs., 81.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, Longhorns, 25 head, 662 lbs., 50.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 259 lbs., 133.00; 49 head, 649 lbs., 107.35; 700 to 750 lbs., 104.00 to 104.50 (104.32); 800 to 850 lbs., 101.00 to 102.00 (101.28). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 650 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 104.60 (103.69); 8 head, 741 lbs., 101.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 101.60 (100.79). Medium and large frame 2, 14 head, 642 lbs., 101.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 99.00 to 99.50 (99.25); 12 head, 743 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00 (95.50); 750 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 99.00 (97.65); 850 to 900 lbs., 96.00 to 97.00 (96.16). Large frame 1 to 2, 800 to 850 lbs., 95.25 to 96.00 (95.55); 11 head, 942 lbs., 94.00; 43 head, 966 lbs., 94.75. Fleshy, 13 head, 862 lbs., 90.00. Large frame 2, 8 head, 908 lbs., 92.00.

Baby calves: Per head, 83 head, 140.00 to 385.00 (242.17).

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 30 head, 69.00 to 86.00 (78.40).

Pairs: Per pair, Medium and large frame 1, young, 30 pairs, 1059 to 1069 lbs., with 193- to 197-lb. calves, 1200.00 to 1240.00 (1214.58); 23 pairs, 1131 to 1145 lbs., with 187- to 215-lb. calves, 1230.00 to 1270.00 (1257.72); middle-aged, 26 pairs, 1125 to 1149 lbs., with 170- to 191-lb. calves, 1100.00 to 1130.00 (1107.04). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, short and solid, 15 pairs, 1140 to 1149 lbs., with 189- to 205-lb. calves, 900.00 to 930.00 (919.95); short and solid, 7 head, 1125 lbs., with 220-lb. calves, 925.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, broken mouth, 46 pair, 1130 to 1149 lbs., with 150- to 233-lb. calves, 800.00 to 880.00 (844.08). Medium frame 1, young 30 pair, 1059 to 1069 lbs., 1200.00 to 1240.00 (1214.58). Small and medium frame 1 to 2, young, 8 pair 858 to 862 lbs., with 127- to 131-lb. calves, 650.00 to 725.00 (668.82).

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 62.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 51.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 58.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 68.50 to 74.00 (71.06); low dressing, 61.00 to 64.50 (63.17).
