OKC West livestock sales reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,790 head June 18, compared to 4,557 head last week and 2,503 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves were not well tested. Heavy rains fell once again across the state with up to 2 inches being reported locally. Most wheat in the area has been cut with just a few areas left. Feeder cattle were in medium to fleshy conditions with gaunt to full weigh-ups. Receipts consisted of 78% over 600 pounds, 18% under 600 pounds, 4% cows and bulls. The total included 48% heifers. Slaughter cows were uneven with Boners and Breakers $2 higher. Lean cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Packer demand was good. A total of 219 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to packers.
