Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 3,900 head June 16, compared to 5,500 head last week and 5,644 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 750 pounds and heifers under 700 pounds were steady to $2 lower, heavier weights were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Wet weather across the corn belt drove corn futures higher daily. Receipts were curtailed as rain and storms continued in the four state area. It has been difficult for farmers to do any kind of field work. The feeder supply included 51% steers, 42% heifers, 7% bulls, with 51% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 111.50 to 122.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 118.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.50 to 116.00, calves 101.50 to 115.00; 700 to 750 lbs., calves or fleshy 100.00 to 103.50, 775 to 800 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00; lot 866 lbs., 103.50; 900 to 975 lbs., 97.00 to 102.75.
