Ft. Smith livestock sales

The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Ft. Smith, Ark., report receipts of 632 head June 16, compared to 836 head last week and 777 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $4 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $7 lower. The supply included about 354 feeder calves, 200 feeder yearlings, 8 replacement cows, 60 slaughter cows, 9 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bulls. The feeder supply about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holstein and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply consisted of 50% steers and bulls with 50% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average prices in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 58.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 43.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 48.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 38.00 to 42.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 51.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 60.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 50.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00; high dressing, 71.00 to 77.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 116.00 to 123.00 (119.00); 450 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00 (110.00); 500 to 550 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00 (105.00); 550 to 600 lbs., 98.00 to 106.00 (102.00); 600 to 650 lbs., 96.00 to 104.50 (102.00); 650 to 700 lbs., 94.00 to 102.00 (100.00). Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 110.00 to 115.50; 350 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 108.00 to 115.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 91.00 to 99.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 89.00 to 97.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 97.00 to 105.00 (102.00); 450 to 500 lbs., 96.00 to 108.00 (100.00); 500 to 550 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00 (94.00); 550 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 94.50 (92.00); 600 to 650 lbs., 84.00 to 92.00 (88.00). Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 104.00 to 111.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 89.00 to 96.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 87.00 to 95.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 81.00 to 89.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 87.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 75.00 to 83.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 7 years old, 800 to 1350 lbs., open cows, 57.00 to 71.00
