Dodge City livestock sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,875 head, June 11, compared to 1,809 head, last week and 1,680 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 800 to 1000 pounds were steady, and heifers at 750 to 950 pounds were weak to $2 lower. Steers at 300 to 800 pounds and heifers at 300 to 750 pounds were not enough for a market test, although a weak undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were weak to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 to $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was moderate to good. Receipts included 65% 600 pounds and over, 20% 600 pounds and under, 15% slaughter cows and bulls with 427 head, early. The feeder supply 40% steers and 60% heifers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 31 head, 1260 to 1350 lbs., with 225- to 300-lb. calves, 1075.00 to 1190.00. Medium and large frame 2, 30 head, 1055 to 1250 lbs., with 125- to 250-lb. calves, 910.00 to 1020.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, individual 58.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 57.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 57.00 to 59.00, individual 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 51.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 50.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 66.50 to 71.00, low dressing, 61.00 to 65.50.
