Amarillo livestock sales report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,063 head June 17, compared to 1,333 head last week and 1,214 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 pounds were not enough for an adequate market comparison, however a weak undertone was noted, over 700 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were uneven, with leans steady and boners and breakers $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 3% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than a half percent, replacement cows were 2% and feeders 94%. The feeder supply included 55% steers and 45% heifers, with nearly 80% over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 614 lb. calves 100.00; lot 710 lbs., 108.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 104.70 to 106.60; lot 948 lbs., 97.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 340 lbs., 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; lot 585 lbs., 104.50; package 620 lbs., 104.50; lot 711 lbs., 104.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 435 lbs., 92.00; package 615 lbs., 96.00, load 625 lb. fleshy 95.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 333 lbs., 112.00; package 430 lbs., 106.00; package 511 lbs., 103.50; package 600 lb. calves 102.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 100.50 to 103.25; load 801 lbs., 100.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 103.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 98.00 to 100.00; load 601 lbs., 99.50, package 632 lbs., full 94.00; 730 to 750 lbs., 95.00 to 95.75. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00; 585 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 95.00; package 642 lbs., 90.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1400 lbs., 55.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 53.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 50.50 to 51.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 54.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1515 to 1950 lbs., 65.00 to 71.50; high dressing, 2235 lbs., 72.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 1050 to 1255 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, 750.00 to 760.00 per head; aged, 905 to 1140 lbs.,5 to 8 months bred, 510.00 to 630.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, middle-aged, 800 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 400-lb. calves, 720.00 to 850.00 per pair; aged, 800 to 1050 lbs., with 150- to 300-lb. calves, 660.00 to 690.00 per pair.
