Amarillo livestock sales reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,063 head June 17, compared to 1,333 head last week and 1,214 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 pounds were not enough for an adequate market comparison, however a weak undertone was noted, over 700 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were uneven, with leans steady and boners and breakers $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 3% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than a half percent, replacement cows were 2% and feeders 94%. The feeder supply included 55% steers and 45% heifers, with nearly 80% over 600 pounds.
