Wyoming Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show set June 4 to 7Wyoming The 2008 Wyoming Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show will be held June 4 to 7 at the Parkway Plaza in Casper. The theme is "Prospering in a Changing Industry" and the four days of sessions will include presentations and discussions on issues facing the cattle industry. Though the event is hosted by the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, non-members are welcome to attend. The welcome reception will begin at 7 p.m., June 4. On June 5, the busy agenda will include the past president's breakfast, an opening general session with keynote speaker Melinda Bobo, a luncheon featuring keynote speaker Ron Rabou, and committee meetings. At the marketing committee meeting, the JBS Merger will be debated by Wesley Bautista, of JBS Swift, and Randy Stevenson, vice president of R-CALF. The evening's reception, June 5, will include a fund raising auction and raffle. The annual prayer breakfast will commence June 6 in the morning, followed by a general session that will include a presentation entitled "Water Storage Strategies" by Mike Purcell, Director of the Wyoming Development Commission. Further discussions, June 6, will cover the topics of wind energy, CO2, and the role of local governments. Events June 6 will also include the awards luncheon, the WSGA business and board meeting, and will conclude with a social and banquet featuring country and western singer Kevin McNiven. June 7 will start out with a Cowboy Brunch featuring invited speakers Senator Mike Enzi, Senator John Barrasso, and Representative Barbara Cubin. All candidates for Wyoming U.S. Senate and House seats have been invited to participate in a candidate forum following the brunch. The convention will commence June 7 at noon.
