Tulia livestock sales reportTulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,736 head May 19, compared to 2,528 last week and 7,559 last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm, except steers at 550 to 600 pounds and heifers at 700 to 800 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2 percent, and feeders 98 percent. The feeder supply included 68 percent steers and 32 percent heifers. Nearly 78 percent of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
