Texhoma livestock sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 276 head May 28, compared to 575 head last week and 550 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there were not enough cattle on offer for a good market test. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average. The supply included 63% steers, 36% heifers with 65% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 88 cows and bulls sold with 70% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 596 lbs., 115.50; 5 head, 650 lbs., 113.50; 44 head, 781 lbs., 109.10; 5 head, 840 lbs., 106.75. Medium and large frame 3, 8 head, 424 lbs., 118.00. Feeder Heifers Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 477 lbs., 112.50; 19 head, 764 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 559 lbs., 102.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 5 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 55.75 to 58.50; low dressing, 52.50. Boners, 14 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 57.25 to 58.25; high dressing, 59.00 to 60.50; low dressing, 54.50 to 55.50. Lean, 22 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 55.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 60.25; low dressing, 52.50 to 54.50. Light, 2 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 50.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 9 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 72.50 to 74.00; high dressing, 75.00 to 77.50; low dressing, 71.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 5 years old, 1250 to 1275 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average to high blacks, 860.00 to 875.00.
