Springfield livestock sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 926 head May 27, compared to 765 head last month and 1,022 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Demand was very good on the better quality and moderate on the rest of the offering. The supply was moderate and included 6% springer heifers, 20% bred heifers, 35% open heifers, 3% fresh and milking cows, 8% bred and springer cows, and 5% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise. Prices per head.

Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 2075.00 to 2475.00, crossbreds 1930.00 to 2000.00. Approved 1500.00 to 1900.00, pair of Jerseys 1475.00, few crossbreds 1700.00 to 1710.00. Medium 1300.00 to 1450.00, crossbreds 1000.00 to 1250.00. Common 1125.00 to 1275.00. Heifers bred three to six months, Supreme 2050.00 to 2260.00, crossbreds 1925.00 to 1980.00. Approved 1675.00 to 1975.00, few Jerseys 1800.00 to 1850.00, crossbreds 1675.00 to 1850.00. Medium 1200.00 to 1650.00, few Jerseys 1575.00 to 1700.00, crossbreds 1100.00 to 1500.00. Common 700.00 to 1150.00, crossbreds 900.00 to 1050.00. Heifers bred one to three months, Supreme 1900.00 to 2075.00. Approved, individual 1875.00. Medium 1125.00 to 1375.00, crossbreds 1400.00 to 1435.00. Common 800.00 to 1000.00.

Open heifers: Approved to 200 to 300 lbs., 700.00 to 880.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 940.00 to 1100.00, crossbreds 850.00 to 880.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 1010.00 to 1200.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 1100.00 to 1300.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 1360.00 to 1470.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 1325.00 to 1660.00. Medium 200 to 300 lbs., 610.00 to 700.00, crossbreds 610.00 to 730.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 770.00 to 890.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 840.00 to 990.00, crossbreds 710.00 to 970.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 850.00 to 1000.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 900.00 to 1270.00; 700 to 800 lbs., few 800.00 to 1280.00. Common 400 to 600 lbs., 310.00 to 725.00, crossbreds 410.00 to 590.00.

Replacement cows: Fresh and milking cows, Supreme individual 1950.00. Approved 1525.00 to 1625.00. Medium 1075.00 to 1475.00. Common 540.00 to 850.00, crossbreds 390.00 to 900.00.

Springer cows: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 1900.00 to 2125.00. Approved 1500.00 to 1875.00. Medium 1175.00 to 1425.00. Common 650.00 to 1000.00.

Cows: Bred one to six months, Supreme individual 2025.00. Approved 1475.00 to 1875.00. Medium 1000.00 to 1375.00. Common 600.00 to 960.00.

Baby calves: Holstein heifers 530.00 to 600.00. Holstein bulls 60.00 to 80.00, small 35.00 to 55.00. Crossbred heifers 110.00 to 350.00
