South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending May 23, showed receipts of 1,500 feeder lambs and 200 replacement ewes, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market New, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter lambs, slaughter ewes, or slaughter meat goats. Trading and demand were moderate. Numbers of available feeder lambs are increasing but most producers took advantage of available feed because of the lack of price differential due to weight.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 1500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, new crop 70 to 85 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00.

Replacement ewes: Texas, 200 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth 75.00 per head.
