Sioux Falls sheep auction

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 693 head May 27, compared to 671 head last week and 796 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were too few to test, slaughter ewes were steady compared to last week's limited test. Feeder lambs sold mostly steady to $2 higher. Buyer attendance and demand were moderate to good. Feeder lambs comprised 50% of the run, 44% slaughter ewes and 6% slaughter lambs.

Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 24 head, 141 lbs., 105.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 134 to 144 lbs., 28.50 to 31.00 (29.35); 15 head, 165 to 199 lbs., 28.00 to 31.00 (29.84). Good 2 to 4, 8 head, 185 to 196 lbs., 22.50 to 23.50 (22.86); 207 to 231 lbs., 24.00 to 28.00 (26.20). Utility 1 to 2, 143 to 158 lbs., 18.00 to 24.00 (21.53); 160 to 189 lbs., 16.00 to 22.00 (17.65). Cull 1, 118 to 136 lbs., 14.00 to 16.00 (15.03).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 36 lbs., 131.00; 13 head, 50 to 55 lbs., 124.00 to 126.00 (125.67); 10 head, 67 lbs., 120.00; 71 to 78 lbs., 112.00 to 117.50 (114.28); 84 to 86 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00 (112.21); 93 to 94 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00 (112.16); 100 to 103 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.53). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 104 lbs., 97.00.

Slaughter kids: Selection 1, 16 head, 44 to 45 lbs., 121.00 to 129.50 (127.34). Selection 2, 8 head, 31 lbs., 109.00; 7 head, 56 lbs., 102.00.

Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1, 16 head, 101 lbs., 50.50.
