Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., May 22, reported receipts of 2,823 head, compared to 3,192 head last week and 1,551 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 500 to 750 pounds in a limited supply were firm, and 750 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Heifers at 500 to 700 pounds in a limited supply were steady, and 700 to 900 pounds were $2 to $2.50 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 93% 600 pounds and over, 5% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows. The feeder supply 62% steers and 38% heifers.
