Range Tailgate Sessions scheduled for northern PanhandleNebraska University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension educators in Sioux, Dawes and Sheridan counties will be following up their winter "Cow Coffee" sessions with a series of pasture and rangelands tours where producers can discuss this season's progress and range management principles on the actual sites. UNL educators are collaborating on this effort with the USDA NRCS, the Nebraska Forest Service, and other private and public collaborators. Dates and locations are as follows: --May 28, 3 p.m., Sheridan County--Tour will visit Roger Vincent property north of the Niobrara River on Hwy 250 to evaluate range readiness for grazing and some simple monitoring tools. Meet at the UNL Extension Office in Rushville. Call 308)327-2312 for information. --June 2, 3 p.m., Sioux County--Tour will visit a site to be arranged near Harrison to review dominant grass species and how they help producers evaluate range stocking capacities. Meet at the Sioux County Courthouse. Call 308-668-2428 for information. We will combine into as few vehicles as possible as a courtesy to the landowners and landscape on each tour.
