North Arkansas livestock auction reportThe North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,539 head May 28, compared to 1,258 head last week and 1,541 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Feeders were steady to $4 higher. The supply included about 843 feeder calves, 454 yearlings, 75 replacement or feeder cows, 147 slaughter cows, 19 slaughter bulls, 1 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included about 35% over 600 pounds, 39% steers, 46% heifers, and 15% bulls. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 58.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 59.00.
