Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 1,749 head of sheep and goats May 23, compared to 2,756 head last week and 1,690 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were steady, heavy weights were not tested. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including with nearly 600 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper bucks, 130.00 to 165.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00; Pairs: 22.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 250.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 95 lbs., 105.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 107.00 to 118.00. Slaughter ewes, Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 150 to 160 lbs., 30.00 to 32.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 20.00 to 32.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 250 lbs., 36.00 to 50.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 85.00 to 109.00; ewes, 60 to 80 lbs., 55.00 to 69.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 132.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 115.00 to 120.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 118.00.
