Georgia livestock sales summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending May 23, showed receipts of 10,730 head, compared to 10,395 head last week and 20,081 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher, and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Feeder steers were steady to $3 higher, steer calves were steady to $2 higher, heifers and heifer calves were steady to $3 higher, and replacement cows were steady to $3 higher. The offering was composed of 9% steers over 600 pounds, 33% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
