Georgia livestock auction summaryThe summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending May 16, reported receipts of 10,395 head, compared to 10,357 head last week and 14,336 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher, feeder steers were $1 to $4 higher, heifers were steady to $3 higher, steer calves were $2 to $4 higher, heifer calves were $1 to $3 higher, replacement cows were mostly $1 to $3 lower. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 24% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
