Faith cattle sales reportFaith Livestock Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 1,732 head May 19, compared to 2,200 last week and 730 last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. A trend on feeder cattle was not applicable as the last reported sale was about four weeks ago. This offering was mostly light fleshed cattle with a few moderate fleshed on offer. Several load lots of steers and heifers were offered. Receipts were 51 percent steers and 49 percent heifers, and 54 percent weighed over 600 pounds. Buyer attendance was good with moderate to good demand. A good portion of the area has water in dams that have been nearly dry for several years. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 86 head, 546 lbs., 124.25; 89 head, 619 lbs., 125.00; 709 to 722 lbs., 119.75; 26 head, 877 lbs., 106.75; 60 head, 909 lbs., 103.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 8 head, 511 lbs., 124.00; 12 head, 658 to 666 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (113.91); 17 head, 702 lbs., 112.00; 13 head, 792 to 796 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00 (108.61). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 80 head, 593 lbs., 113.00; 550 to 594 lbs., 116.00 to 116.25 (116.14 ) Thin; 11 head, 689 lbs., 103.25; 15 head, 722 lbs., 104.00; 770 to 777 lbs., 100.00 to 101.50 (101.28); 6 head, 832 lbs., 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 471 to 481 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00 (115.45); 14 head, 588 lbs., 112.25. Medium and large frame 2, 13 head, 550 lbs., 108.00.
