Dalhart livestock sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,014 head May 22, compared to 1,626 head last week and 1,564 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were firm, over 600 pounds were firm to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 230- to 975-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 14% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 4%, and feeders 80%. The feeder supply included 47% steers and 53% heifers, with nearly 54% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 149.00 to 157.00, lot 239 lbs., pre-conditioned 175.00; few 300 to 400 lbs., 134.00 to 139.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 117.50, pre-conditioned 119.50 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 117.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.00 to 109.50; two lots 916 to 972 lbs., 93.00 to 102.50.
