Colorado feeder cattle sales

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 852 head May 23, compared to 1,101 head last week and 1,970 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady on limited offerings. Demand was good for all classes. Feeder cattle receipts continued to wane as several barns have concluded coverage until late summer/early fall. The supply was made up of 37% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 35% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 412 lbs., 124.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 130.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 120.00 to 124.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 117.50 to 125.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.00 to 118.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 122.00 to 124.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 113.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 110.50 to 115.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 115.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 106.25 to 116.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 450 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 108.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 101.50 to 105.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 105.00 to 105.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00.
