Amarillo livestock sales reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 552 head May 27, compared to 1,031 head last week and 1,717 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 700 pounds were firm to $1 higher on a light test and under 700 pounds were $1 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 775-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 6% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, replacement cows 5% and feeders 82%. The feeder supply included 37% steers and 60% heifers, with nearly 47% of the run over 600 pounds.
