West Plains cattle salesThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,600 head June 10, compared to 4,747 head last week and 5,923 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were $2 to $6 lower, with most 500- to 550-weight steers were $6 to $9 lower. The supply and demand was moderate. Most buyers were fairly quiet when compared to last week, but would rise to the occasion when a group of uniform, quality, black calves entered the ring. Most of these, other than 500- to 550-pound steers, suffered only the minimal discount in the market. The supply consisted to 52% steers and 48% heifers, with nearly 51% weighed over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 129.00 to 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 128.00 to 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 126.00, lot 461 lbs., late/gaunt 130.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.50 to 112.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 106.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 98.00 to 104.25. Medium and large frame 2, package 379 lbs., thin 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 112.00, few thin 115.00 to 119.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 107.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; 800 to 910 lbs., 97.00 to 103.75.
