Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,419 head June 9, compared to 2,959 head last week and 2,338 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady to $2 lower. Feeder steers and heifers were steady. There was moderate demand on stockers with good demand on feeders. Weigh-ups were mostly average. There was a good attendance of buyers and a higher instance of No. 2 cattle available. Receipts were comprised of 45% steers, 46% heifers, 9% bulls, with 30% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Most offerings were leaner type cows. A total of 407 cows and bulls sold with 58% going to packers.

Light, 130 head, 85 to 90% lean, 650 to 975 lbs., 45.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 50.50; low dressing, 41.00 to 44.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 25 head, 1200 to 2000 lbs., 67.00 to 70.50; high dressing, 71.50; low dressing, 62.50 to 66.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, average blacks, 700.00 to 750.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 years old, 1000 lbs., with 75- to 100-lb. calves, high blacks, 1100.00.
