Springfield livestock sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,250 head June 4, compared to 1,368 head last week and 2,279 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers were steady to $2 lower, Holsteins under 550 pounds not well tested, although a higher undertone was noted. Holsteins over 550 pounds and heifers, all weights, were $1 to $3 lower following last week's sharply higher trade. Demand and supply were moderate. The haying season should be in full swing, but most equipment has been sitting idle. It seems very few days go by without rain showers or thunder storms.
