OKC West livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,557 head June 11, compared to 5,120 head last week and 4,438 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 lower, least decline on those over 800 pounds. Feeder heifers were $2 to $4 lower, except over 800 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle with best demand for those to finish in December. Calf market was lightly tested. Steer calves were steady to $2 higher. Heifer calves were $2 to $3 lower. Demand was moderate for calves. Many farmers remain busy cutting wheat. Heavy rains across the state early in the week slowed harvest by a few days. The supply included 80% over 600 pounds, 17% under 600 pounds, 3% cows and bulls. The total included 27% heifers. Slaughter cows were $1 lower, except lean cows $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were $3 to $4 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 176 cows and bulls sold with 46% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 375 lbs., 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 118.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 111.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 104.00 to 109.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 102.50 to 106.50; 925 lbs., 101.25. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 575 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00; 625 lbs., 109.00; 775 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 106.00; 835 lbs., 102.00. Holsteins, Large frame 3, lot 625 lbs., 77.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 390 lbs., 111.00; 425 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00, package 425 lbs., fleshy 100.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 109.00; 600 to 625 lbs., 95.00 to 102.00; Yearlings: 650 to 700 lbs., few 100.00 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.75 to 104.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 97.75 to 100.50; load 965 lbs., 95.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 410 lbs., fleshy 105.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 104.00; 685 lbs., 102.25. Medium and large frame 2, 490 lbs., 104.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 99.00 to 102.50; 715 lbs., 100.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 17 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1050 to 1925 lbs., 53.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 58.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 52.50. Boners, 19 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1450 lbs., 53.50 to 56.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 58.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 51.50. Lean, 19 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 50.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 49.50. Lights, 11 head, 80 to 90% lean, 900 to 1000 lbs., 50.75 to 51.00; low dressing, 46.00; very low, 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 9 head, 1300 to 2175 lbs., 65.50 to 69.50; high dressing, 70.50 to 74.50; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.50; very high, 79.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heifers, 1050 to 1075 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average blacks, 940.00 to 1010.00; heifers, 800 to 950 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 720.00 to 820.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 5 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 325-lb. calves, average quality, 950.00 to 1020.00; 7 years old, 1000 lbs., with 200-lb. calves, average bred back, 970.00.
