North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,237 head June 11, compared to 1,808 head last week and 2,028 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. Feeders were steady to $3 lower, instances were $4 to $7 lower on some plainer heifers and bulls. The supply included about 638 feeder calves, 444 yearlings, 60 replacement or feeder cows, 86 slaughter cows, 9 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included about 41% over 600 lbs., 49% steers, 43% heifers, and 8% bulls. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 44.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 38.00 to 43.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 30.00 to 38.50; low dressing, 15.00 to 30.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 60.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 68.50 to 73.00.
