Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,500 head June 9, compared to 7,400 head last week and 4,840 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market New Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were $2 to $5 lower. Demand was moderate to light, and supply moderate. Fed cattle traded $1 to $1.50 lower last week at $94 to $94.50. A few fed cattle traded $1 lower at $93. Corn future contracts have rallied to over $6.50 bushel, with some 2009 contracts trading over $7 bushel.
