Colorado feeder cattle sales

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 2,076 head June 6, compared to 579 head last week and 525 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Yearling feeder steers were too lightly tested in the past few weeks for a comparison. Demand was good especially for yearling feeder steers. Many barns have concluded coverage until late summer or fall. Coverage could begin sooner if the dry conditions do not improve. However, the majority of the state saw rain this week, but more is needed to help improve pasture continues to the point of having enough forage to get through the summer. The supply was made up of 87% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 50% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 123.00 to 127.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 120.50 to 124.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00; 700 to 780 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00; 900 to 920 lbs., 100.00 to 102.50; 995 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 390 lbs., 120.00 to 124.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 106.50 to 107.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 200 to 250 lbs., 93.75 to 100.00; 250 to 300 lbs., 93.50 to 96.50; 300 to 350 lbs., 90.00 to 96.50; 350 to 400 lbs., 89.50 to 92.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 82.00 to 85.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00; 500 lbs., 78.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 78.00 to 83.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 82.50 to 83.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 78.00 to 80.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 79.50 to 81.10; 800 to 850 lbs., 77.00 to 82.10; 850 to 900 lbs., 78.00 to 78.75; 975 lbs., 74.75.
